We all need good nutrition. A healthy lifestyle goes hand in hand with a balanced diet. Shallots contain many valuable nutrients. They also naturally contain flavonoids, an antioxidant attributed to have anti-carcinogenic properties.

Sometimes food can be important in other ways too. For example, if you need some extra energy to fuel your body for sports activities. In that case, a shallot adds just that little extra touch of flavour to a quick to prepare, energy boosting pasta dish.

Prepare the tagliatelle al dente according to the instructions on the package. Drain the pasta. Stir a couple of tablespoons of heated crème fraîche and a finely chopped shallot through the pasta. Sprinkle with olive oil. Season with coarsely ground pepper, salt and some fresh herbs (for example fresh basil or rocket leaves). Scatter some grated Parmesan cheese on top.
